Is one of the southern provinces (changwat) of Thailand. Neighboring provinces are (from east clockwise) Satun, Phatthalung, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Pattani and Yala. To the south it borders Kedah and Perlis of Malaysia.
In contrast to most other provinces, the capital Songkhla is not the largest city in the province. The much newer city of Hat Yai, with a population of 359,813, is considerably larger, with twice the population of Songkhla (163,072). This often leads to the misconception that Hat Yai is the provincial capital.

The longest concrete bridge of Thailand, consisting of two parts, stretches out into Songkhla Lake to link the island, Koh Yor, with the mainland, facilitating the traffic flow between Songkhla and nearby districts. The first part of the bridge itself is 940 meters long with 100-meter-long tied-beam at each end. For the excellent view of the bridge, you may stop at the provided rest areas, one before approaching the first part of the bridge from Ban Nam Krajai, and the other one, just in front of the Institute for Southern Thai Studies, before leaving the island at the northern end.
. Koh Yor Songkhla ( เกาะยอ )
Koh Yor is name of island in Songkla, the southern part of Thailand. Most of the people here is a fisherman. I enjoy coming to this island to take a picture of the fisherman going out to stay at the gaurd house in the lake. As the nature changes everyday, I will come to the same spot to take the picture of this man with the variation of the sky at the sunset.
. Samila Beach ( หาดสมิหลา )
Samila Beach Lying approximately 2.5 kilometers from the municipal market, the beach is characterized by fine white sand and lined with shady pine trees. From Samila Beach one can see Laem Son Onn to the northeast and Chalathas Beach to the south. On a clear day, Kao Seng Hill can be seen further to the south. The major landmark of the beach is the Golden Mermaid statue, a prominent symbol of Songkhla. boxes.
. Kao Seng Beach ( หาดเก้าเส้ง )
They say this is the most beautiful beach in Songkhla. The water is crystal-clear and the surrounding is still undeveloped
. Cat & Rat islands ( เกาะหนู-เกาะแมว )
Songkhla or Singgora in Malay, was a city of an old Malay Kingdom of Langkasuka with heavy Srivijayan influence. It has been under Thai suzerainty since the 18th century.
Previously a port and a coastal trading post where Indian, Persian and Arabian merchants came to exchange their products, this place was initially named "Sing Lha" after the 2 lion-shape islands at the mouth of the city's lake. Currently, these 2 islands are known to us as Ko Nu (Rat Island) and Ko Maeo (Cat Island)
. Songkhla Zoo ( สวนสัตว์สงขลา )
Songkhla zoo is the largest zoo in the South of Thailand and is the best place to see zoo animals in the area. It is a relatively new collection having first opened its gates to the public in 1989. It is one of the very few Thai zoos which are members of the Zoological Park Organisation and as such sets itself apart from the purely exploitative commercial collections which are so common in the country. Songkhla has committed itself to a genuine conservation role and does have educational input.
